Solar Tariff at a new LOW of Rs.2.20 per kWh

Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) had launched a 1-GW rooftop solar tender at the end of 2016 for government buildings which was later reduced to 500 MW and was distributed between the CAPEX, or self-owned, and RESCO modes at a ratio of 30% to 70%.

SECI has received bids as low as INR 2.20 (USD 0.034/EUR 0.029) per kWh for that tender.

According to SECI, the lowest tariff was proposed by Mundra Solar PV Ltd for a project on Andaman and Nicobar islands. Meanwhile, the highest tariff of INR 4.59 per kWh was quoted in the state of Bihar by Suryam International Pvt Ltd. Both proposals are to be developed under the RESCO (renewable energy service company), or third-party owned, mode.
