Statkraft BLP Solar Solutions (SBSS) has successfully commissioned a 5 MW solar project in Tamil Nadu’s Gummidipoondi town.

The project was developed at the manufacturing facility of SRF, a manufacturer of industrial and specialty intermediates, to meet its energy requirements. The project is one of the largest in-campus solar power projects in the state of Tamil Nadu. The project is estimated to generate 7,500 MWh clean energy annually, Statkraft said in a media release announcing the inauguration.

Statkraft BLP Solar Solutions has previously commissioned several rooftop and ground-mounted projects, including a 5 MW open access solar plant in Karnataka’s Tumkur district.

Statkraft BLP Solar Solutions Private Limited (SBSS) is a joint venture between Norwegian state-owned hydropower and renewable energy company Statkraft and Bharat Light & Power. SBSS was formed to develop solar projects in India with a focus towards serving industrial and commercial customers.

Statkraft is Europe’s largest generator of renewable energy and has presence in as many as 16 countries.
