JK Cement To Procure 6.42 MW Green Energy From CleanMax

JK Cement

JK Cement has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) for 6.42 MW of wind-solar production capacity in Karnataka with CleanMax Enviro Energy Solutions, Asia’s top C&I renewable energy firm.

The PPA is for 25 years and has a tariff that is 50% lower than the current DISCOM pricing. CleanMax‘s wind-solar farm in Jagalur, Karnataka, will supply green energy to JK Cement’s Muddapur plant.

Its wind-solar capacity has a total capacity of 4.68 MWp of solar power and 3.3 MW of wind power. This is a component of CleanMax’s bigger wind-solar plant in Karnataka. The farm’s total capacity is 290 MW, made up of 145 MW wind and 210 MWp solar; leading to carbon abatement of 61,18,92 tons CO2 equivalent.

JK Cement Ltd. has committed to the UN Energy Compact and the SBTi climate objective of achieving a least 75% clean energy mix by 2030. To further accelerate the transition to clean energy, JK Cement has signed this long-term contract with M/s. CleanMax for the supply of wind and solar renewable energy for the Muddapur unit, which has already achieved more than 85% clean energy mix and has established a benchmark by receiving the prestigious CII GreenCo Platinum award.

With 1GW of operational renewable assets, CleanMax is Asia’s top renewable energy firm in the C&I (commercial and industrial) sector. CleanMax now runs 600+ MW of large-scale solar and wind power.
