Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has adopted a slew of Eco-Tech

The Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) is taking a slew of measures in recycling of wastes, adopting eco-friendly technologies and spreading green cover. The RSP is the first SAIL unit to install continuous effluent quality monitoring system at various waste water treatment units. The data are uplinked with the servers of the Odisha State Pollution Control Board (SPCB) and the Central Pollution Control Board, it said.

To keep the ambient air pollution free, the steel plant has installed various air pollution control equipment like electro static precipitators, bag houses, dust supression systems, dry fog dust supression systems and wet fog dust suppression systems, a RSP statement said today. The RSP has successfully taken up an R&D activity with the Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology to explore the use of LD slag as soil ameliorant in acidic soil.
