The semiconductor industry needs to work together to use more renewable energy and reduce their carbon footprint as the demand for semiconductors grows. To this effect, Schneider Electric has introduced Catalyze, a partnership initiative that aims to expedite the availability of renewable energy throughout the semiconductor industry worldwide.

The Catalyze program, which was introduced at SEMICON West 2023, is a unique collaboration among major players in the semiconductor and technology industry. Its purpose is to tackle the issue of supply chain emissions in their industry.

Intel Corp. and Applied Materials Inc. have become the first corporate sponsors of the Catalyze program, which aims to promote the use of renewable energy and reduce carbon emissions in the semiconductor industry. They will work together with Schneider Electric to encourage other suppliers to join the program and support the industry’s transition to a more sustainable future.

Schneider’s Catalyze program will start by targeting suppliers in certain markets in the semiconductor industry that already have access to renewable energy. The goal is to eventually expand globally, as long as there is interest and opportunities in renewable energy markets.
