Mahindra begins delivering e-Verito electric sedan to EESL

Mahindra has started supplying the e-Verito electric sedan to EESL. Mahindra’s MD Dr. Pawan Goenka put out a tweet while the eVerito electric sedan was being handed over to EESL chairman by the CEO of Mahindra Electric.

Mahindra has agreed to supply 150 eVerito sedans to EESL. The company is yet to take a call on supplying the rest of 2,850 cars that it is eligible to supply if it can match Tata Motors’ bid price of Rs. 11.2 lakh/electric car. Mahindra’s MD has expressed reservations about profitability if they supply the eVerito at this (11.2 lakhs) price to EESL even as Tata Motors’ MD Guenter Butschek has confidently said that his company would make a profit on each electric car it supplies to EESL.

The Mahindra eVerito that is supplied to EESL has to have a minimum range/charge of 130 Kms. The electric sedan needs to seat 5 adults, and be able to get its batteries charged fully in 6 hours. It also needs to have quick charge facility that charges the batteries in just 90 minutes. Mahindra also needs to offer a 5 year maintenance contract on these cars. The eVerito meets all these requirements for now.
