EESL to Float EV Tender for Andhra Government

Energy Efficiency Services Ltd. (EESL) is all set to issue a second global tender for 10,000 electric vehicles that will be supplied to the Andhra Pradesh government. Before that, the government agency placed order for 10,000 electric vehicles with the major share awarded to Tata Motors and the rest given to Mahindra.

EESL also reveals that it is has received query from various states across the country to lease electric vehicles for the government vehicle fleet like Gujarat government has asked for around 4,000 electric vehicles, while Maharashtra government wants to lease around 2,000 EVs.

With two major tenders for a total of 20,000 electric vehicles, EESL and Indian government’s intention is clear towards adopting zero emission electric mobility.

Meanwhile, several auto manufacturers have already started preparing to launch their EVs here. At the recently concluded Auto Expo 2018, Tata Motors has showcased the Tigor and Tiago EV. Mahindra too has showcased couple of exciting EV concepts. Nissan is keen to launch its Leaf electric hatchback here.
