The destiny of a Rs 4 lakh crore investment is in doubt since the state government has not to implement the green hydrogen policy, which has been in the draft stage for more than six months. Five businesses have already filed with Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Ltd (RRECL) to establish 2610 kilo-tonne green hydrogen projects, with a total investment of about 4 lakh crore.
After the release of the central policy in February 2022, the state government began talks with industry in March to create the policy. The final draft for investment was completed in September, but it has been a lengthy wait since then. The industry fears that if the policy is not approved in a month or so, it would be difficult for the government to go ahead, given the state elections which are due.
The solar industry does not want what happened to the equipment manufacturing sector in the past to happen again. Despite having the most solar plants installed capacity in the country, equipment manufacture has not taken off. ReNew Power has only recently begun construction on two plants capable of producing solar panels with a capacity of 4000 MW.
According to government authorities, the draft should be revised in light of the Rajasthan Industrial Policy-2022. However, the corporations said that RIPS was announced in October 2022, and that modifications might have been implemented in a month if the government had paid attention to the industry.
