COP28 Head Questions Science Behind Fossil Fuel Phaseout

COP28 Head Questions Science Behind Fossil Fuel Phaseout
COP28
Sultan Al Jaber, an Emirati oil executive leading the COP28 conference in Dubai, faced criticism for stating that there is no scientific basis for reducing fossil fuels to prevent global temperatures from exceeding 1.5 degrees Celsius.

There is a clear conflict of interest as Al Jaber, who also happens to be the CEO of Adnoc, the biggest drilling company in the Middle East, is in a position to greatly benefit from the company’s plans to expand its drilling operations.

“The science is clear,” UN secretary general António Guterres told delegates at the COP28 summit. “The 1.5C limit is only possible if we ultimately stop burning all fossil fuels. Not reduce, not abate. Phase out, with a clear time-frame.”

The research strongly emphasizes the importance of ending the combustion of fossil fuels.

Since the beginning of this ridiculous charade, it was inevitable that his ridiculous disguise would eventually fail to hide the blatant conflict of interest, making it the most blatant one in the history of climate negotiations.

To put it briefly, COP28 is becoming a mere diversion and, concerning, leaked documents indicate that the United Arab Emirates intends to utilize climate gatherings such as this to promote oil and gas corporations.
