Honda Goes GREEN

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has set up world’s largest Honda two-wheeler factory at Narsapura, Karnataka which is located on the outskirts of Bangalore. India has been one of the largest markets for Honda, and the company has the majority share in the scooter market here, making it worth the investment.

Honda opened its first plant at Manesar, Haryana, which today covers an area of about 100,000 sq. meters and has an annual capacity of 1.65 million units. Honda then opened a manufacturing unit at Tapukara, Rajasthan taking the total annual production capacity to 2.8 million units in FY 2012-2013. The fourth plant, at Vithalapur, Gujarat was inaugurated in 2016, becoming Honda’s first scooter only plant in India and the world’s largest scooter only factory by any manufacturer, churning out 1.2 million units of Honda’s best selling scooters.

The plant at Narsapura is Honda’s third and largest plant in the country.It is the Japanese auto manufacturer’s largest plant in the world, producing the Honda Dream Yuga, CB Shine and SP Shine other than the Activa and Dio. The expansion was carried out with an investment of Rs 665 crore and the fourth assembly line adds an additional production capacity of Six lakh units per annum, or 2350 units per day.

What is special about this Honda Factory at Narsapura is its environment friendly approach. All its water usage is taken care of by rain water harvesting, and 80 percent of electricity is generated by solar panels.
