Vestas Secures Largest Indian Wind Turbine Order

Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas announced that it had received its largest Indian wind turbine order, a 250 megawatt (MW) turnkey order from Ostro Kutch Power Private Limited stemming from India’s first wind power auction held in February 2017.

This latest turnkey project — a project which is constructed to be sold as a completed and operational project — brings the company’s Indian order intake up to more than 480 MW following another 100 MW turnkey project announced earlier this year.

The 250 MW wind project will be located in the Kutch district of Gujarat, a state in the country’s west. Vestas will deliver, install, and commission 125 of its v110-2.0 MW wind turbines as well as the civil and electrical works necessary for the project. Completion of the project is expected for some time in the third quarter of 2018.

Vestas’s extensive experience from more than 100 turnkey projects across the globe has been key in securing this order, marking this as a major milestone, by being the largest project in India, since pioneering the country’s wind energy market in 1986.
