A ‘Birds Eye View’ Of Renewable Energy Trends In June’23

New RFS Issued

  • In June 2023, 18 new renewable energy (RE) tenders with a cumulative capacity of 22,134 MW were issued.  
  • RUMSL issued 16400 MW of Pumped Storage tender in Madhya Pradesh. A total of 14 sites are on offer to build PHS capacities varying from 600 MW to 2 GW.
  • About 583 MW of Solar tenders (Under KUSUM Scheme Component- C) were issued by Jodhpur Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (JDVVNL) in Rajasthan.

Auction Completed

About 2000 MW of Renewable Energy tenders were auctioned in June 2023. Out of which about 1490 MW were allotted in the respective month.

Installed Capacity

In May 2023, a combined total of 1074 MW of solar and wind capacity was added, taking the cumulative RE capacity to 126.7 GW.

In May 2023, Gujarat installed the maximum solar capacity of 368 MW followed by Karnataka (236 MW), Tamil Nadu (65 MW), Rajasthan (32 MW) and Kerala (10 MW). Gujarat added the maximum wind capacity of 272 MW in the country in May 2023.

Monthly RE Generation

In June 2023, Renewable energy sources generated 20525 MU, which is 16.4% higher than the RE generation in May 2023. Solar generation decreased by 10% while wind generation increased by 57% on month-on-month basis in June 2023.
