Environmental Benefits at the Forefront

The Evergem site is a cornerstone of company’s Mission to Zero™ initiative. This ambitious program targets significant reductions in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from operations, while empowering customers to achieve their own decarbonization goals.

The new facility is projected to achieve impressive environmental results:

  • Reduced CO2e Emissions: Over 6,700 tonnes annually, compared to the previous facility in 2019.
  • Lowered Energy Consumption: More than 9,400 MWh annually compared to 2019.
  • Cost Savings and Sustainability: These reductions translate to an estimated €2.5 million saved in energy costs each year.

A Model for Sustainable Manufacturing

The Evergem site showcases a multitude of eco-conscious features:

  • Solar Power Generation: Approximately 10% of the site’s energy needs will be met by 1,330 rooftop solar panels.
  • Renewable Energy Sources: The remaining energy will be sourced from certified green suppliers.
  • Energy-Saving Technologies: LED lighting, electric vehicle (EV) chargers, heat pumps, and optimized water and ventilation systems all contribute to lower energy consumption.

Digital Technologies for Continuous Improvement

The Evergem site leverages digital expertise to achieve continuous environmental improvements. ABB Ability™ Building Analyzer, a digital solution, tracks building data and utility usage in real-time, providing valuable insights for further optimizing energy efficiency. Additionally, the upcoming implementation of a building management system will offer even greater control over energy consumption.

A Sustainable Future for Manufacturing

Evergem facility serves as a prime example of how modern manufacturing can embrace sustainable practices without compromising efficiency. This commitment to environmental responsibility paves the way for a greener future for the industry in Europe and beyond.
