Lion Electric Receives Its Largest 50 Electric Truck Order

Lion Electric

Large Canadian transport company CN signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Lion Electric Co. to buy 50 of its zero-emission, fully electric trucks.

In fact, this is the largest order Lion Electric has received to date.

CN

These new electric trucks will help CN fill the gaps between rail routes in a zero-emission way. They are slated for intermodal use, will be tested in a variety of situations and environments across the CN network, from urban delivery, container shuttle service, to port operations.

Lion Electric, create, design, and manufacture all-electric class 5 to class 8 commercial urban trucks and all-electric buses and minibuses for the school, paratransit, and mass transit markets,” the company summarizes.

They recently supplied 27 electric school buses to Quebec, recently started offering electric garbage trucks, and started offering a class 8 with up to 400 km (250 miles) of range last year.

CN launched a pilot program using their electric trucks in April 2019. Clearly, it was happy with what it saw and experienced so is showing leadership by acquiring 50 all-electric Lion trucks to further test in different operational environments.

We hope that this CN deal will inspires everyone who is looking for an economical, sustainable and environmental transportation solution to switch to electric vehicles.
