Electric Scooter Segment is Heating Up In India

Two of the major concerns for the people opting for electric vehicles are the range and a very low top speed (25kmph in case of electric scooters).

But now, with the advancement of electric vehicle technology manufacturers are offering a better range and top speed (over 45kmph) for their electric scooters. Along with it they are also offering at least 2-3 years of warranty on the battery.

The top performers in this category are running for 70 kilometers in just Rs 10/-.

Ather 450 is one of them.It has begun delivery for customers in Bengaluru and has also set up charging infrastructure at customer end.

Price: Rs 1.24 lakh

Key Specifications:

  • Maximum speed: 80kmph
  • Battery range: 75 kilometres
  • Charging time: 4 hours/ fast charging 1km per minute

The other performer comes from the house of HERO named as Photon. It is available in two different variants based on its battery range.

Price: Rs 84,490 (ex-showroom, Delhi)

Key Specifications:

  • Maximum speed: 45kmph
  • Battery range: Power Mode – 85km /charge, Economy Mode – 110km/charge
  • Charging time: 6-8 hours (normal charging)

The next in line is homegrown electric two-wheeler maker ‘Twenty Two Motors’ which has launched country’s first cloud-connected electric scooter know as Flow which has 90Nm DC motor which is powered by a lithium-ion battery.

Price: Rs 74,740 (ex-showroom, Delhi)

Key Specifications:

  • Maximum speed: 60 km/h
  • Battery range: 160 kms
  • Charging time: 5 hours (normal charging)

Another Indian electric two-wheeler manufacturing company Okinawa offers two electric scooters namely ‘Praise’ and ‘Ridge’ in India.

The recently launched Praise has a running cost of just 10 paise/km.

Price: Rs 59,889 (ex-showroom, Delhi)

Key Specifications:

  • Maximum speed: 75kmph
  • Battery range: 170-200km/ full charge
  • Charging time: Lead-acid battery 6- 8 hrs / Lithium-ion battery 1-2 hrs

With ever growing aware in consumers for saving Earth and the realization that  “We need Earth, Earth does not need Us, For Her, we are just Another Specifies” the competition in this segment is heating up by the day and now foreign players are also planning to come in…
