CEAT Accelerates Clean Power Shift With 59 MW Hybrid Wind–Solar Deal

India’s industrial decarbonization drive gained momentum this week. CEAT, one of the country’s largest tyre manufacturers, announced a strategic renewable energy partnership with CleanMax Enviro Energy Solutions.

Under the agreement, CEAT will source power from a ~59 MW hybrid wind–solar project spread across Gujarat and Tamil Nadu. The renewable electricity will supply CEAT’s Halol and Kanchipuram manufacturing facilities through a group captive model, the companies said .

The hybrid design combines wind and solar generation. As a result, energy output remains more stable throughout the year. This approach also improves plant load factor and grid reliability, which is critical for energy-intensive industrial operations.

According to the companies, the projects will generate around 13.58 crore units of clean electricity annually. Carbon emissions are expected to fall by nearly 100,000 tonnes per year, equivalent to planting about 4.5 million trees. With this addition, renewable power will account for nearly 60% of CEAT’s electricity mix .

CEAT executives highlighted that the project will also deliver long-term cost efficiencies. At the same time, it supports the company’s broader sustainability agenda, which includes green sourcing, sustainable logistics, and low-carbon manufacturing.

CleanMax, backed by Brookfield, currently leads India’s commercial and industrial renewable energy market. The company said such partnerships show how corporate demand can accelerate India’s clean-energy transition.

While the clean power transition is accelerating, execution will remain critical. However, projects like this signal growing confidence in hybrid renewable models for Indian industry. More such collaborations are expected as manufacturers align climate targets with energy security.
