Goldi Solar is preparing a significant expansion of its solar manufacturing capacity in India. The Gujarat-based company has announced plans to add 5 GW of solar module capacity and 16 GW of cell capacity by FY28 to support rising domestic demand for solar energy.

Currently, Goldi Solar operates three manufacturing facilities near Surat, with a combined capacity of 15.2 GW of solar modules. The company aims to scale up its module production beyond 20 GW, according to those sources.
Moreover, Goldi Solar is working on a draft plan to add the new modules. This expansion aligns with India’s growing need for solar installations, driven by government programs such as the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana.
In addition, the company has started setting up a 1.2 GW cell manufacturing facility as part of its backward integration strategy. On top of that, it plans to expand cell production by another 16 GW by FY28. This will support production of more advanced solar modules, including bi-facial Topcorn N-Type modules that are highly efficient.

However, questions remain about the investment timeline and financing. Goldi Solar did not immediately respond to requests for comment on project costs or deadlines. According to industry estimates, setting up 1 MW of module capacity typically requires ₹5–7 crore in investment.
Thus, as India ramps up its renewable energy goals, Goldi Solar’s planned capacity additions could play a key role in strengthening the country’s solar manufacturing ecosystem.
